Vaishnavi Sharma Under 19

The Indian U19 team has made a fantastic start in the Under-19 World Cup, defeating host country Malaysia by 10 wickets. Debutant Vaishnavi Sharma achieved a remarkable hat trick, followed by an impressive bowling spell of 5/5, which restricted Malaysia to a mere 31 runs. India’s openers made quick work of this small target, securing their second consecutive victory with ease. Here’s a review of the India vs. Malaysia match in the Under-19 World Cup.

Vaishnavi Sharma’s Historic Spell

After winning the toss, India opted to bowl first, sticking to the successful strategy from their previous match. They included left-arm spinner Vaishnavi Sharma in the lineup. Malaysia’s batting form was weak following their first match, and this trend continued. They struggled significantly against the Indian bowlers, with five out of their 11 batters getting dismissed for a duck. The remaining batters contributed only single-digit scores.

All the Indian bowlers caused problems for the Malaysian batting, but Vaishnavi’s emphatic spell stood out. She became the second Indian ever to claim an Under-19 hat trick and the first player this season to achieve this feat. Her remarkable bowling figures of 5/5 are recorded as one of the best spells in this U19 World Cup. After Malaysia was bundled out for just 31 runs, the Indian openers made quick work of the chase.

Easy Win and Looking Strong

The small total of 31 was easily chased down by India’s openers, Gongadi Trisha and G Kamalini, who completed the target in just 17 balls, with Trisha aggressively attacking the Malaysian bowlers. Following this convincing victory, India looks to continue its dominance in their next match against Sri Lanka.
