IPL franchise Delhi Capitals seem to have found a replacement for Harry Brook after the England batter pulled out of IPL 2025 before the season started. This is the second time Brook backed out of an IPL season. He previously backed out in IPL 2024 after being bought by the Delhi Capitals.
He did the same thing again in IPL 2025 after Delhi Capitals secured his services for 6.25 crores. The young batter was part of the England squad for the Champions Trophy.
England were eliminated from the tournament after losing to Afghanistan. They also lost their other league game against Australia which meant that they were eliminated from the tournament.

After England's CT debacle, Brook decided to pull out of the tournament citing his commitments with England cricket. According to the BCCI rules, if any player is bought in the auction and then decides to withdraw, he will be banned for two years. Thus Brook was at the receiving end of this punishment and was crticised by his own England teammates in Moeen Ali and Adil Rashid.
“I have made the very difficult decision to pull out of the upcoming IPL. I apologize unreservedly to the Delhi Capitals and their supporters. “It is a really important time for England cricket and I want to fully commit to preparing for the upcoming series. In order to do this, I need time to recharge after the busiest period in my career to date. I know not everyone will understand, and I don’t expect them to, but I have to do what I believe is right and playing for my country remains my priority and focus" Brook wrote on social media.
Meanwhile, Brook's replacement Dasun Shanaka has alreday joined the Delhi Capitals outfit and was seen training with his DC teammates. A picture of him training also went viral on social media.

Shanaka is already training with the Delhi Capitals squad, and an official announcement regarding his inclusion is expected soon.
