Delhi Capitals beat Sunrisers Hyderabad by seven wickets on Sunday in Vizag to notch up their second win in as many games in IPL 2025. It was a clinical performance from the Capitals with their bowlers and batters both having their say in the game.
Chasing 164 to win, a cumulative batting effort helped the Capitals ease past the target in 16 overs. It was a comprehensive victory in the end for the hosts who have now won both their games in their second home Vizag.
Faf du Plessis (50 runs off 27 balls) played the anchor role in the chase, setting up the win for his side. Jake Fraser-McGurk (38 runs off 32 balls) played his part in the run-chase as well after getting a slow start. Surprisingly, he batted at a strike rate of less than 120 in this match but got the job done for his side.

Mitchell Starc's Maiden IPL Fifer Headlines Delhi's Win Over SRH
It was not a good return to the IPL for KL Rahul who scored 15 off five balls in his first game for the Capitals. Abhishek Porel (34 runs off 18 balls) added an unbeaten 51-run stand with Tristan Stubbs (21 runs off 14 balls) to take their side home. Zeeshan Ansari, the leggie on his IPL debut, took all the DC wickets to fall. He took 3/42, with his last over going for 14 runs. Barring him, the other SRH bowlers had a bad day at the office.
It was a dominating win for the Capitals and one that had a statement of intent. The bowlers did a good job to bowl out the powerful batting lineup of Sunrisers Hyderabad for 163. Mitchell Starc took his first IPL fifer and with 8 wickets is currently topping the Purple Cap charts. He was also named the Player Of The Match for his heroics with the ball.
With the bat, the young DC batters in Porel, Stubbs and Jake Fraser-McGutrk took the opportunity and made it count. It was Porel who finished the match with a six. The win takes DC second on the IPL 2025 points table. The points table is currently led by RCB who also have won back to back games.
Speaking about DC and SRH, the Capitals will be on the road for a few games before they play their first home game at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on April 13. SRH, who have now lost two games on the bounce, will travel to Kolkata and take on the Kolkata Knight Riders next on April 3.
"We didn't get going, didn't get a score on the board. A few wrong shots, but catches in the deep does happen in this format of the game. I don't think it's a big margin, on another day, you get going with a couple of shots, not everything went our way in the last two games, we can look back and think about different options" said SRH skipper Pat Cummins after the loss to DC.
