IPL 2025 Match 11 RR vs CSK Highlights: Nitish Rana Counterattacks

Rajasthan Royals (RR) put the pressure back on Chennai Super Kings (CSK) after losing their opener Yashasvi Jaiswal in the first over of the innings. Nitish Rana took the attack to the CSK bowlers as the RR batters led a counterpunch.

CSK opted to field first in the 11th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. RR’s innings began with a jolt when opener Yashasvi Jaiswal fell for four in the very first over, caught off Khaleel Ahmed’s bowling after hitting a boundary. This early breakthrough gave CSK a fleeting moment of control, but it was short-lived.

Rana, walking in at No. 3, and Sanju Samson quickly seized the initiative, collectively smashing 75 runs in the powerplay. Rana, in particular, was the aggressor, smashing his way to a 21-ball fifty that electrified the Guwahati crowd. His assault included a barrage of fours and sixes, capitalizing on CSK’s pace attack, while Samson played a composed supporting role.

The second over marked the turning point, with Rana and Samson smashing 14 runs off Jamie Overton, including a four and a six from the former's bat, lifting RR to 23/1. The third over bowled by Khaleel was tighter, yielding just six runs as CSK’s bowlers tried to regain footing, but the floodgates opened in the fourth.

The RR duo again hammered 16 runs off Overton, pushing the score to 45/1. Ravichandran Ashwin, coming into the attack in the fifth over, was treated with disdain. Rana hammered him for two sixes and a four as the Royals coasted.

The southpaw belted Khaleel in the next over and completed his fifty in the process.

Noor Ahmad Helps CSK Make Comeback

The Afghan left-arm wrist-spinner, Noor Ahmad, struck for CSK in his first over. He sent Samson packing for 20 runs, providing the Super Kings a much-needed breakthrough.

In the ninth over of the innings, Rana was adjudged LBW off Ashwin’s bowling. However, the decision was overturned as the ball was found to be missing the stumps on ball-tracking.

At the 10-over mark, RR are at 99/2 with Rana and Riyan Parag batting at 70 and four runs respectively.
