Rajasthan Royals’ (RR) blistering start against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 clash took a dramatic turn at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati on Sunday.
After racing to 79/1 in the Powerplay, powered by Nitish Rana’s 21-ball fifty, RR suffered a jolt earlier when captain Sanju Samson fell for 20 off 16 balls to Noor Ahmad in the eighth over, leaving them at 86/2.
Bowling the 10th over, Matheesha Pathirana was smacked for a six by the RR captain Riyan Parag. Meanwhile, Nitish Rana continued on his merry way extending his onslaught on Ravichandran Ashwin. However, the off-spinner eventually got his man as Rana got stumped after scoring a 36-ball 81.

Noor Ahmad claimed his second wicket of the evening as he dismissed Dhruv Jurel. Pathirana made a full-length dive at the short third-man region to end Jurel's innings.
CSK took another scalp in the form of Wanindu Hasaranga. The Sri Lankan tried to take on Jadeja but ended up getting holed out at deep mid-wicket as Vijay Shankar grabbed a stunner.

RR Finish at 182/9
The last recognised batting patting pair of the Royals, Parag and Shimron Hetmyer, joined hands for a crucial partnership for the sixth wicket. The duo took calculated risks and tried to take RR to a competitive total on a pitch, where run-scoring looked easy.
Overton dropped Hetmyer off Pathirana’s bowling and as it turned out, it did not cost CSK much.
Parag, after dispatching the ball for a six and a four off Noor, was castled by Pathirana in the next over.
Jofra Archer, Kumar Kartikeya and Hetmyer followed him as Rajasthan Royals finished at 182/9 in their 20 overs.
For CSK, Khaleel, Noor and Pathirana took two wickets apiece.
