Delhi Capitals (DC) are off to a solid start in pursuit of Lucknow Super Giants' (LSG) 160-run target at the Ekana Stadium, in the ongoing match 40 of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) season. DC openers Karun Nair (15) runs signaled his intentions clear in the power play by going after Shardul Thakur. Abhishek Porel also looked to be positive from the outset as DC ensured they had a solid power play.
LSG skipper Rishabh Pant used different bowlers in the power play and tried to unsettle DC batters. Briefly, the Southpaw succeeded as Aiden Markram got rid of Nair in the third over. Only Prince Yadav bowled two overs in the power play. With a lowish total to defend, Pant wanted to upset DC by not allowing them to settle.
The ploy did not work, as the ever-dependable KL Rahul looked assured at the crease and enabled DC were right on track while chasing 160 runs in the power play.

With already 50-plus runs in power play, the stage is set for DC batters to explode in the second half of the innings. For LSG, Digvesh Rathi's overs will be crucial in the middle overs. The leg spinner has been a revelation in the IPL 2025 tournament, as he concedes below 8 runs per over.
