IPL 2025 Match 48 DC vs KKR Highlights: Gurbaz, Narine, Rahane Steer KKR to 117/4 After 10 Overs

Narine-Gurbaz added 48 for the first wicket.

Delhi Capitals (DC) are hosting the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in match 48 of IPL 2025 in Delhi on Tuesday, April 29. DC won the toss and opted to bowl first. This is the first time both these teams are facing each other this season. Since 2020, both teams have won five games each.

KKR are heading into this game after their no-result game against Punjab Kings (PBKS) in Kolkata. KKR have had an indifferent season so far having won just three and losing five out of their first nine games. The previous no-result game took them to seven points on the table.

Starting with this game, KKR need to win all their remaining games to make the IPL 2025 playoffs. Currently, they are placed seventh on the IPL 2025 points table.

KKR openers Sunil Narine (27 runs off 16 balls) and Rahmanullah Gurbaz (26 runs off 12 balls) added 48 in the first three overs. This is their best power play by far this season. Gurbaz was dismissed by Mitchell Starc ( 35 runs off 3 overs) and since then Ajinkya Rahane (26 runs off 14 balls) has taken KKR's innings forward with Narine. At the end of the powerplay, they scored 79 runs losing one wicket as they had their best batting powerplay this season.

KKR Lost Narine And Rahane Just Outside The Powerplay

The KKR batters negated the DC bowlers very well in the first six overs. The start given by Gurbaz and Narine helped the side immensely and the good work was carried on by Rahane from the moment he walked out to bat.

DC skipper Axar Patel introduced spin in the seventh over as he bowled Vipraj Nigam. It made an immediate impact as he dismissed Sunil Narine (27 runs off 16 balls) in the third delivery of his first over. He went for 12 runs in his first over. Axar Patel then introduced himself in the eighth over and immediately dismissed KKR skipper Ajinkya Rahane (26 runs off 14 balls).

Meanwhile, KKR brought up their 100 in the ninth over as they capitalised on the good start despite losing Narine and Rahane outside the powerplay. Axar Patel dismissed Venkatesh Iyer (7 runs off 5 balls) in the tenth over. Angkrish Raghuvanshi ( 21 runs off 9 balls) and Rinku Singh (2 runs off 2 balls) were batting with KKR on 117 runs for 4 wickets after 10 overs.
