Delhi Capitals (DC) were rocked early in pursuit of a 181-run target, as Mumbai Indians (MI) bowlers were spot-on with their line and lengths in match 63 of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) season at the Wankhede Stadium. Stand-in-skipper Faf du Plessis's struggle continued as he departed for just (6) runs as Deepak Chahar provided the first breakthrough for MI.
However, the moment of the match arrived when Trent Boult dismissed KL Rahul for (11) runs. The Centurion of the last match was done in by Boult's smart variation. Those twin strikes pegged DC off a brisk start in the power play. With the Wankhede pitch aiding spinners also, MI skipper Hardik Pandya bought Will Jacks into the attack, and the off-spinner struck in the first over by sending Abhishek Porel for (6) runs.

With so much stake, DC batters failed to cash in on the power play and put pressure back on MI. Things could have been even worse for DC if Rohit Sharma had not dropped the catch of Vipraj Nigam for (20) runs.

Tristan Stubbs key for DC in the run chase of 181
While Vipraj Nigam managed to strike lusty blows in the power play, the key batter for DC will be Tristan Stubbs. The ever-reliable DC's finisher is in prime form and has the best strike rate for batters in overs 16 to 20. If Vipraj and Rizvi bat for five overs more, then it would be an ideal scenario for Stubbs to accelerate at the death. DC needs to win the game against MI to stay in the hunt for the IPL 2025 Playoffs Race.
