Delhi Capitals (DC) batter Sameer Rizvi played a gem of an innings to take his team home to a six-wicket victory against Punjab Kings (PBKS) in match 66 of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) season. Rizvi bought his 50 off just 22 balls and enabled a smooth 207-run chase. Walking into bat at number five, the youngster showed no signs of nervousness, and aced the run chase well. Tristan Stubbs gave Rizvi good company as he remained unbeaten on 18 runs.
The PBKS vs DC match was an inconsequential match in the ongoing IPL 2025 season in Jaipur. However, PBKS made most of it as their middle-order batters, who until this point, were not tested, finally came to party against DC. PSBK all-rounder Marcus Stoinis stuck a blistering 16-ball 44 runs to catapult the side to 206 runs at the end of the 20 overs.
DC bowlers were guilty of bowling way too short to Stoinis, who happily punished bowlers to all parts of the ground. It was his stunning knock that took PBKS to a strong total. In reply, DC openers KL Rahul and Faf du Plessis put on 55 runs for the opening wicket before the former was dismissed for 35 runs. That wicket bought PBKS right into the contest, and from there they kept chipping away with wickets.

For PBKS Marco Jansen, Arshdeep Singh and Harpreet Brar were the stand out bowlers. For DC, each of the batters got start, but only Rizvi converted his start into a match-winning knock to help DC snap a four match losing streak.
PBKS fail to go on top of the IPL 2025 Points Table
Just like GT and RCB, PBKS also botched a golden opportunity to go on top of the points table by losing the match to DC. With only one game left against MI, PBKS need to win that game if they harbor hopes of finishing in top two of the IPL 2025 Points Table.
