Rajasthan Royals (RR) began their 18th edition of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) season on an inauspicious note as they suffered a huge loss against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). The Royals suffered another loss against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) before managing to get on a roll by winning two games against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Punjab Kings (PBKS).
However, the Royals were not able to continue their winning streak as they failed to close their next three games against Delhi Capitals (DC), Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). What must have hurt RR the most is that on all three occasions, they had the game in complete control right till the penultimate overs of the game. In all three games, RR needed just nine runs to get in the final over. Somehow, they ended up botching the games and ended up on the losing side of the result.

If RR had won all three of these games, then they would have ended up in the top half of the points table. Alas, the Royals are currently placed eighth on the points table, with just six points from the 10 games. However, the good news is that they are not yet out of contention for the playoff spot, if they manage to win all four games by good margins.
Rajasthan Royals Performance Thus Far
Unfortunately, RR never quite got the momentum in the ongoing IPL 2025 season. They could only manage to win two games on the bounce. The Royals were consistently seeking consistency, but they have failed to get one complete game so far. To make things worse, they were also handicapped by the injury to skipper Sanju Samson. Also, a lot of off-the-field stories about a possible rift between Samson and Dravid did not help the cause either.

The Royals' biggest highlight thus far in this IPL 2025 season was their thumping eight-wicket victory against the Gujarat Titans (GT). Also, unearthing Vaibhav Suryavanshi is one of the major ticks for the franchise this season.
Qualification Scenarios For RR
RR is placed eighth on the IPL 2025 points table with just six points. They will need to win all of their remaining four games by big margins, as their net run rate is on the negative side. However, winning all four games also does not solve RR's purpose, as they would also need a few results to go their way if they have to make it through the playoffs. Winning four games guarantees RR 14 points and gives them an outside chance of reaching the playoffs.
If the Royals lose one game also, then they will be out of the playoff race. Currently, RR's chances of making the playoffs are just 5%.
