IPL 2025 - Sanju Samson, Yashasvi Jaiswal Declared Fit for Rajasthan Royals' Opener

As the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 approaches, the Rajasthan Royals (RR) fans can breathe easy. Their captain Sanju Samson and batting sensation Yashasvi Jaiswal have been declared fit for the IPL 2025 campaign-opener scheduled against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on March 23.

Rajasthan Royals' captain Samson had sustained a finger injury during India’s T20I series against England earlier this year. The injury, caused by a fierce delivery from Jofra Archer, required him to undergo a surgery and raised concerns about his availability for the upcoming IPL season.

Jaiswal, RR’s explosive opening batter, was sidelined from Mumbai’s Ranji Trophy semi-final bout versus Vidarbha due to an ankle injury.

As per a Times of India report, both Samson and Jaiswal have recovered from their respective injuries. While Jaiswal has already joined the team's pre-season training camp in Jaipur, Samson is awaiting a final clearance from the BCCI's Centre of Excellence and is likely to link up with the franchise on Monday.

"Samson is joining RR on Monday. He has cleared his fitness test for his batting at the BCCI's CoE, and now the medical team at the CoE is taking his wicket-keeping test as well before releasing him. Regarding Jaiswal, there was a small tear in his ankle. He underwent extensive rehab at BCCI's CoE before being released for the IPL," a source said as quoted to TOI.

This update comes as a major boost for the Royals as they aim to win the IPL title under the guidance of newly-appointed head coach Rahul Dravid for the first time since the inaugural season.

Rajasthan have revamped their squad for IPL 2025. Alongside Samson and Jaiswal, the team boasts a strong core including Riyan Parag, Dhruv Jurel and Shimron Hetmyer with new additions like Jofra Archer and Nitish Rana adding depth.
