Vittori SRH news

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) head coach Daniel Vettori has backed the team to play an ultra-positive brand of cricket despite SRH losing two games on the bounce. SRH went down by seven wickets to DC , and before that they lost to LSG by five wickets. On both occasions, SRH's explosive top-order batters could not assert dominance as they did against RR in their first game.

SRH scored a mammoth score of 286 against RR - second best in IPL history. However, against DC and LSG, SRH could post only 163 and 190 runs, respectively, when at one position they were comfortably placed to get over the 220 score mark. Vettori was asked whether the batters need to adopt a more cautious approach in their upcoming games. The former New Zealand captain stated that there has not been any discussion yet regarding that and explained what went wrong in their last game against DC.

"There's no conversation around that [tempering down]. We definitely want to play an aggressive brand. If you look at our top three, that's how they play. They normally set the tone for the rest of us. Abhishek was unlucky tonight, Ishan and Travis, on a different day, may have hit those balls for six. We understand that when we play this way, there may be failures, but hopefully, we can come to the party and perform more often than not," said Vettori, as quoted by ESPNcricinfo.

Daniel Vettori confident about SRH bouncing back despite two losses

Only a few teams in this edition of IPL have lost two games on the bounce. SRH is one of them, alongside CSK, RR, and MI. However, Vettori is optimistic about SRH turning the fortunes around by playing with the same attacking mindset.

"If you look at the course of the 18 IPL seasons, there have been very few teams that haven't lost two games in a row, particularly early in the season when teams are learning their combinations, especially in the first year after a big auction. We don't want to be in this position, like any team, but we understand that every time we play, we come up against a very good team—well-planned teams with highly talented players," Vettori added.

"There's no reason why we can't just turn up and win. We've got to perform—that's the challenge for us after a very good first performance—and continue in the style we like. How we challenge ourselves to do it consistently is important," the former Kiwi player concluded.
