Indian captain Rohit Sharma is likely to opt out of the England tour that is scheduled later this year in June as per reports in India Today. The report further said that the Indian captain has already decided on the matter and is not keen to travel to England post his dismal performace in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
Rohit scored just 31 runs across five innings at an average just six. He was not in any kind of form throughout the Test series and looked very uncomfortable, especially against pace.
The India Today report further confirmed that Virat Kohli is likely to be a part of the Test series. Kohli scored just 190 runs in the Test series against Australia. However, both the senior players played key roles with the bat in India's victorious Champions Trophy campaign.

Rohit Sharma Has Finalised His Decision To Not Travel To England
Meanwhile, the BCCI is thinking about both the senior players before finalising their central contract category. Both Rohit and Kohli along with Ravindra Jadeja retired from T20I cricket after India won the T20 World Cup last year.
Meanwhile, some of India's frontline players are likely to be part of the 'A' squad which will face the Lions in two four-day matches during the May-June window in preparation for the Test series.
India will start the series with the first Test at Headingley, Leeds on June 20-24. The second Test starts from July 2-6 in Birmingham. The third Test will be played at Lord's from July 10-14. The fourth in Manchester from July 23-27 followed by the fifth and final Test at the Oval from July 31-August 4. Every match starts from 3.30 pm IST which is 11 am local time in the UK.

Talking about Rohit Sharma, he dropped himself from the playing XI for the final Test in Sydney against Australia. However, he refuted rumors of retirement saying that he had no intentions of retiring from Test cricket just yet.
"This is not a decision of retirement. I am not moving away from this game. But I took a decision to step away from this game because I was not able to score runs with the bat. There is no guarantee that I will score runs 2 months or 5 months from now,” Rohit had told Star Sports.
“I have seen a lot of cricket, every minute, every second and everyday life changes. I believe that things will change, but at the same time, I have to be realistic as well. People sitting in the commentary box, or writing with a laptop in their hands, will not decide how my life goes," Rohit added.
