Jharkhand secured their first-ever Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy title, with skipper Ishan Kishan’s century driving them to a record total in the final against Haryana. While Kishan’s performance drew the spotlight, all-rounder Anukul Roy played a crucial role throughout the tournament, excelling with both bat and ball and earning the Player of the Tournament award.
Roy’s rise was the result of sustained effort over the 2024–25 season, despite limited opportunities, and he made his breakthrough count at the highest level. He ended the tournament with 303 runs and 18 wickets, a rare all-round achievement previously matched only by Harshal Patel, who scored 374 runs and took 19 wickets in the 2019–20 edition.
Anukul Roy Shines as Player of the Tournament
In addition to his runs and wickets, Roy took nine catches across 11 matches, making him only the fourth player in T20 history to reach these three milestones in a single tournament. He scored 25 or more runs in seven matches and also claimed multiple wickets in seven games, a combination accomplished by only two others in T20 tournaments before him.
Anukul Roy, who represents Kolkata Knight Riders in the upcoming IPL, brings a valuable blend of batting and bowling skills. His ability to score quickly in the middle order and contribute with the ball adds depth to any side, making him a player to watch as he enters the next stage of his career.
