Chahal and Verma's separation was legally formalized on March 20, with the former's lawyer giving a statement that read, "Chahal and Dhanashree Verma's marriage is dissolved, and they are not a couple anymore. Chahal also gave INR 4.75 Crore as alimony for his ex-wife Dhanashree.
