Abrar Ahmed dismisses Shubman Gill

India are chasing 242 to win against Pakistan at the Dubai International Stadium. Their chase got off to a good shaky start with Rohit Sharma dismissed by Shaheen Afridi for 20. Rohit looked to play some shots early on until Shaheen rocked him with a yorker.

Shubman Gill was then looking sublime as he played some sumptuous shots to all the Pakistan bowlers. His straight drive of Shaheen Afridi was the best shot of his knock.

The talented batter looked in no trouble whatsoever as he added 69 runs with Virat Kohli. Both Kohli and Gill attacked the Pakistan seamers and that was when skipper Mohammad Rizwan decided to bring in their specialist spinner Abrar Ahmed. He bowled two quiet overs not giving too many runs away.

Both Kohli and Gill played cautiously against him. Abrar was brought back for his third over. In the third delivery of his over which was the 18th over of the Indian innings, a carrom ball from the Pakistan spinner castled Gill. The ball pitched in the middle-stump and beat Gill's defence to dislodge the stumps. Gill fell four short of his fifty as that brought an end to the 69-run stand between him and Kohli. Gill's wicket has certainly given Pakistan a chance to make a comeback into the game.

Gill's wicket has brought Pakistan back into the game big time with India still requiring more than 100 runs to win the match still. The key now lies on how Kohli manages his innings from here on and how the other batters play around him.

Meanwhile, Virat Kohli is inching closer to yet another fifty against Pakistan in ICC tournaments. During his innings, he went past 14000 ODI runs and got their ahead of names like Sachin Tendulkar and Kumar Sangakkara.

Kohli is only the third batter to score 14,000 in ODIs after Sachin Tendulkar, who reached the landmark in 350 innings, and Kumar Sangakkara, who took 378 innings. Kohli got to 14,000 in 63 fewer innings than Tendulkar.
