Suryakumar Yadav is India's premier T20I batter since the retirement of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma fom the format. He was chosen as the next T20I captain after Rohit decided to retire from the format after winning the T20 World Cup.
Since then, Surya has won T20I series as captain against Australia, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and South Africa. Now he is all set to lead the side in a T20I series against England at home.
The series starts with the first T20I in Kolkata on Wednesday. The Indian skipper is fourth in the ICC T20I rankings and is amongst the top T20I batters in the world as well. He is also known as Mr 360 for his ability to play all around the ground.

SKY had to wait a long time before he finally made his international debut in 2021. He then went on to play all three formats for India, but it was T20I cricket that suited him the best. He was able to adjust with the pace of the game and play the game accordingly.
There was a time during 2018-2019 when he scored tons of runs in domestic cricket but did not get his India cap. He had to wait as long as 2021 to finally play for India. It was then that Harbhajan Singh backed the Indian T20I skipper and batted for his inclusion in the side.
Harbhajan Singh's Tweet On Suryakumar Yadav
Responding to Harbhajan's tweet, SKY thanked the former Indian spinner in an interaction with ESPN Cricinfo.
"I have been sharing the dressing room with him since 2011 (at Mumbai Indians, his first IPL franchise). We had a good friendship on and off the field. When I left Mumbai Indians and went to Kolkata Knight Riders (in the 2014 auction), he was always behind me, 'why are you not playing for India? You are not doing justice to your talent. I think it's high time you become a little more consistent" said SKY.
"There was a lot of what you can call constructive criticism. I really enjoyed it. I could feel he wants me to go ahead and play for the country, which was the best thing. Knowing he tweeted, I was really happy. I called him and told him, 'thank you so much Bhajju pa for tweeting for me. It means a lot that you tweeted'. He keeps motivating me, keeps pushing me, because he feels I'm not doing justice to my talent. And that's good, there have to be a few people who keep doing this for you," he further went onto add.
After Rohit winning the T20 World Cup for India, Suryakumar will have the tough task of defending the title when India hosts the T20 World Cup in 2026.
