The ongoing Delhi Premier League (DPL 2025) season eliminator game between West Delhi Lions and South Delhi Superstarz at the Arun Jaitley Stadium witnessed tempers being flared between Digvesh Rathi & Nitish Rana. Players from both franchises failed to curb their emotions in a do-or-die match. The two hot-headed cricketers nearly came to blows before the duo was separated by the umpires.
The tension between the two players surfaced when Rathi stopped on his follow-through mid-way while Rana tried to attempt a sweep. The mystery spinner, who made a habit of celebrating his wickets by bringing the trademark notebook celebration during the Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) season, playing for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), was seen smiling as he returned to his bowling mark.

However, Rana was not pleased by what the young bowler did. On the next ball, it was the southpaw's turn to back away as the spinner was about to deliver the ball. It was at this point that the West Delhi Lions leader hurled some words back, saying, "Chal dalta reh chal. (Keep bowling)."
The next delivery, Rana smacked Rathi for a reverse sweep and was able to connect for a huge six. However, the skipper did not stop there as he bought Rathi's trademark notebook celebration on his bat. This irked the bowler, and he gave back to the batter and said some unwanted words.
The West Delhi Lions leader did not like what he saw and charged towards the youngster, making his feelings known. The South Delhi Superstarz players quickly realized the gravity of the situation, and quickly separated the two.
Both Rana & Rathi are known to be hot-headed players, and the duo have been spotted having heated altercations on the field during IPL also. This IPL season, Rathi was seen having a go at SRH opener Abhishek Sharma.
Nitish Rana has last laugh as West Delhi Lions win DPL eliminator
The West Delhi Lions skipper, Rana, had a last laugh as he took his team to the finish line in the eliminator game against the South Delhi Superstarz. The southpaw was seen at his destructive best as his unbeaten knock of 134 off 55 balls, helping West Delhi Lions chase a daunting target of 202 with seven wickets in hand. The Eliminator game between the two sides also saw Sumit Mathur and Krish Yadav almost coming to blows.
However, this time the West Delhi Lions skipper Rana pacified the situation as he took Sumit away from the scene. Now, Rana-led Lions will take on East Delhi Riders in Qualifier 2 on Saturday, August 30, at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.
