Shreevats Goswami on Pahalgam attack

The Pahalgam terror attacks on Tuesday, April 22, have once again brought Kashmir back on the world map of terrorism. The valley, known for its scenic beauty and tourist attractions, came to the limelight for its terrorist activities.

On Tuesday, as many as 26 innocent Indian people were killed by local Pakistani terrorists. They killed them at gunpoint, asking their names and realizing that all of them were Hindus. The people killed in this incident were tourists who came to the valley for a holiday trip.

Several videos of the heinous crime committed have been making the rounds on social media. This is touted to be one of the most unfortunate terror attacks in the valley since the Pulwama attack in 2019.

The incident has moved the nation as a whole, and several Indian cricketers, including Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill, shared their condolences after the attacks. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, too shared his thoughts on the same, saying that the people behind this massacre will be punished appropriately.

The bilateral ties between India and Pakistan have been stopped due to the tensions between the two countries across the border. However, the two teams play each other in ICC events. The BCCI and PCB have both agreed to the teams playing against each other at neutral venues.

Meanwhile, former Indian cricketer Shreevats Goswami, in his recent statement on Twitter, has asked the BCCI to not play any form of cricket against Pakistan at any level. His comments in his recent tweet gave a glimpse of how angry he was after the recent incident.

Shreevats Goswami's Statement On Pahalgam Terror Attack

“And this is exactly why I say - you don't play cricket with Pakistan. Not now. Not ever. When BCCI or the government refused to send India to the Champions Trophy in Pakistan, some had the audacity to say, "Oh, but sport should rise above politics" wrote Goswami on Twitter.
“Really? Because from where I stand, murdering innocent civilians seems to be their national sport. And if that's how they play - then it's time we respond in a language they truly understand. Not with bats and balls. But with resolve. With dignity. With zero tolerance,” he further added.

He also mentioned in his tweet of him visiting Pahalgam during the Legends League.

I'm furious. I'm devastated. Just a few months ago, I was in Kashmir for the Legends League - I walked through Pahalgam, met the locals, saw hope returning to their eyes. It felt like peace had finally found its way back. "And now, this bloodshed again. It breaks something inside you. It makes you question how many more times we're expected to stay silent, stay "sporting," while our people die. No more. Not this time," wrote Goswami.

The Indian cricket fraternity has also condemned the terror attacks by sharing their condolences on social media and reacted strongly against the incident.
