His To Hand Is In Control - Ravi Shastri On Shubman Gill
India lost the wickets of Nair, Jaiswal and Pant just when a partnership was starting to brew between the batters along with Gill. Nair fell at the stroke of lunch, Jaiswal just a short while post lunch and Pant just after tea. In between all this Gill stood tall for India scoring his second Test ton as captain.
He joined the likes of Vijay Hazare, Sunil Gavaskar, and Virat Kohli to score centuries in consecutive matches as Test captain. Gill's knock was praised by former Indian head coach Ravi Shastri who hailed the technical changes he brought into his game.
“Gill’s performance was superb. It was disciplined, he looked solid, looked fantastic. He has worked hard on his defence. When he last came to England, he played with hard hands, pushed at the ball, but now, the top hand is in control. He allows the ball to come to him, trusts in his defence and has all the shots in the book when he goes on the attack,” said Shastri on Sky Sports.
