IPL Stands Still: BCCI Suspends League, Backs Armed Forces in Time of Crisis

CSK IPL 2025

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 has been suspended due to rising military conflict along the border. Initially, it was announced that the tournament would be suspended indefinitely. However, recent reports from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) indicate that the tournament could resume in a week, depending on the situation.

Franchise Pressure and Player Safety Prompt Temporary Suspension

The match between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals was suspended midway through, prompting the IPL Governing Council to decide to abandon it. In response to pressures from franchises and overseas players, who suggested that matches should not take place at this time, the BCCI chose to suspend the tournament for one week. The BCCI and IPL Governing Council released a strong statement declaring, “Cricket and BCCI won’t bow to Pakistan,” according to sources.
