Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja's future as an Indian cricketer is uncertain after the Men in Blue lost to Australia. India lost the Test series 3-1 and eventually were knocked out of the WTC final race.
Jadeja scored 125 runs across five innings in the series and picked up just four wickets. He was chosen in the playing XI for his all-round prowess but he failed to display that in this Test series.
With the team management looking to build the core ahead of the ODI World Cup in 2027, Ravindra Jadeja might not be in the plans of the team management any further. He has already announced his T20I retirement after India's T20 World Cup win in June last year. He last played an ODI for India in the ODI World Cup in 2023.

The all-rounder was rested for the white-ball series against Sri Lanka, which was the first under new head coach Gautam Gambhir. The former Indian cricketer was in favour of trying out the youngsters and hence, Riyan Parag, Washington Sundar and Axar Patel were chosen ahead of him.
A BCCI source close to the team management has said that Gautam Gambhir is invested in making three different teams for three different formats. Now he has the vision to create a squad for the 2027 ODI World Cup.
"Gambhir has been very assertive about creating core teams according to formats. As of now, he hasn't quite tinkered with the longer formats but has a clear vision for creating a strong base for the ODI World Cup. He is keen on giving exposure to a few more identified players," a BCCI source told TOI.
The source further said that Jadeja in recent times has not adjusted to the three different formats and hence the team management is looking beyond him in the near future.
"It's all about when the selectors decide the transition needs to kick in. They will discuss if they want to go with a safe option in Jadeja or move on right now. Even in Test cricket, he has struggled to get going, though his bowling has been steady. There is an urge to move on from him, especially in the ODI format. It will be a tough call in the coming days." the source further added.
Ravindra Jadeja In Contention For Champions Trophy Selection
Ravindra Jadeja scored a crucial half-century (77) in the Brisbane Test match. However, his form with the bat and ball dipped in the remaining Test matches. He is still in contention for selection in ICC Champions Trophy 2025 with India playing their matches in Dubai where the pitch aids spin.
